Taking the night shift at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza means surviving from midnight until 6 AM while several groups of animatronics move through the building. In FNAF 2, the player works from a security office with three open entrances and no doors that can be closed. The story follows night guard Jeremy Fitzgerald and develops through phone calls, unusual events, and hidden minigames that reveal pieces of the pizzeria’s history.

Watch the Building Carefully

Security cameras show different rooms and help track where the animatronics are moving. However, spending too much time watching them creates another problem because enemies can approach the office while the monitor is raised. The central hallway and two ventilation shafts must be checked regularly. Toy Freddy, Toy Bonnie, Toy Chica, damaged versions of older characters, Balloon Boy, Mangle, and other animatronics use different routes and require different reactions.

Use the Correct Defense

Most animatronics can be stopped by quickly putting on the Freddy Fazbear mask when they enter or approach the office. The disguise does not work against every enemy, making it necessary to learn individual behaviors.

The main defensive actions include:

  • checking cameras for animatronic movement;
  • wearing the Freddy mask when an enemy enters;
  • flashing the hallway to keep Withered Foxy away;
  • watching both ventilation entrances;
  • preserving the flashlight battery;
  • winding the music box in the Prize Corner.

The music box creates a constant time limit. If it is allowed to stop, the Puppet leaves its box and eventually attacks. Because winding requires opening the cameras, the player must repeatedly switch between maintaining the music box and checking immediate threats.

The flashlight adds another resource to manage. Withered Foxy cannot be fooled by the mask and must instead be driven back by flashing the center hallway. Balloon Boy creates an additional danger because he can enter through the vent and disable the flashlight, leaving the player vulnerable to Foxy.

Survive Increasingly Difficult Nights

The main sequence contains five nights that become progressively harder as more animatronics become active and move faster. Completing them opens Night 6, while further progress unlocks a customizable seventh night where the difficulty of multiple animatronics can be adjusted.

Hidden Atari-style minigames occasionally appear after a game over and provide additional clues about past events. Reaching later nights therefore requires more than fast reactions. Players need a reliable routine: wind the music box, lower the monitor, check the hallway and vents, use the mask when necessary, and repeat the sequence while adapting whenever several animatronics arrive at the same time.
